And here is an actual person playing the pan flute.
I found this other guy that plays too, Gheorghe Zamfir. I can't say for sure, but I'm almost certain this song, "Einsamer Hirte" was in Kill Bill. I loved this song when I saw the movie(s) and still love it! I like the fact that this guy is Romanian too, and his appreciation and love of this type of music.
This next video can't come close to the last one, but I needed to post it due to the superb classic feeling of the filming and production.
Miranda, thanks for posting those pan flute videos. I think that the pan flute is one of the prettiest instruments out there. The Gheorghe Zamfir one was my favorite. (Romanians are awesome!) The piece itself was gorgeous, but I really loved his own performance. It was obvious that he was connected to what he was playing, and his emotions shone through his performance. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Kaylee! Zamfir was so emotionally connected to the music, that I believe it made the piece! It was a joy to listen to. While watching the videos, I noticed that the way vibrato is made on the pan flute is by moving the flute back and forth a little bit. Maybe I just do not know a lot about flutes, but I thought it was really neat.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting these videos! I absolutely love the sound of the pan flute. Further more, I have to agree with both Kaylee and Brittany, the dedication and love for the instrument really showed throughout the video. Once more, thank you for sharing these!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you posted these. I can't get enough of the pan flute. It's just such a pretty instrument and it's sound is so unique. And it's interesting to see it performed by a Romanian!
ReplyDeleteYay for flutes!
ReplyDelete1] The first video actually kind of surprised me, I don't know that I've heard a pan flute next to a keyboard before. I also don't know if I'm in the minority there...
2] YES FOR KILL BILL! :D I started playing it before I read and I got so excited!!
3] The third video reminded me of either a 'sailing' song from the Pokemon video games or something from the Mario series. xD I have no idea of that makes any sense, but I enjoyed these videos a lot.
-Maggie.
Oh, Zamfir! He was actually quite famous back in the day, in a sort of Lawrence-Welk way. Lots of jokes always circulated about him. Pan flutes for everyone!
